About the film: Modern Insurgent sent reporter Aidan Frere-Smith to Masafer Yatta, a rural community in the South Hebron Hills, in April 2025. 'They Break the Tree of Peace' documents the violence, intimidation and demolitions faced by Palestinian residents, and how they hold on to their land and identity through sumud, meaning "steadfastness".
